People who are incarcerated are cut off from most forms of communication and lose access to community, family, friends, and loved ones. Getting messages from the outside helps sustain folks and shows them that they are not forgotten. It also offers additional protection, since it lets other people know that they have community on the outside. For all of the artists, whether currently incarcerated or free, your message will let them know that they are being heard, and that their voice has value.
