Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with CHIP! We are completely volunteer run and depend on people like you to fulfill our mission of advocating for the incarcerated populate. Let’s get started in working together towards a world with no prisons.

How to Sign Up

To sign up, please send us a message through Instagram, Facebook, or email letting us know you’re interested! And please include a little bit about yourself and your interest in activism.

Notes: If applying through email, please also include a link to one or two of your social media accounts so we have another form of contact for you. Finally, email applications will take longer to process; if a few days go by and you haven’t heard back, try again on Instagram or Facebook!

How Volunteers Help

TAKING CALLS

We are always accepting volunteers to take calls for our hotline!
Once you sign up and are approved, you will be contacted by a member of our Steering Committee with training materials. After you complete the on-boarding process, you can start signing up for shifts. We are looking forward to meeting you!

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

Once you are a CHIP volunteer, we will share new opportunities to help out as they become available. These can range from contacting public defenders to doing data collection. There are many ways our volunteers contribute to our mission.

How Anyone Can Help

SHARING OUR NUMBER

Something that would be a very helpful for us is sharing our number in South Florida jails to ensure as many inmates as possible can access the hotline. You do not need to be a volunteer to do this! If you have a way to do so, please contact us (see our CONTACT page for details), and we will work with you to help get the word out!

PHONE ZAPS, EMAIL ZAPS AND PROTESTS

We will periodically advertise phone zaps and email zaps on our social media pages for the public to get involved with. We encourage everyone, volunteer or not, to participate in these! So definitely follow us! We also sometimes have in person protests and rallies.

If you have any questions before signing up, and for more information, please take a look at our FAQ page.
